Sharon Baldry

Sharon Baldry was born in Hackney, London in 1960.
Having Trained as a commercial artist she quickly became dishearten with the restricted creativity and began to sell her own watercolour paintings.

For many years she specialized in botanical studies and has exhibited with the Royal Horticultural Society at the Mall Galleries, London.
Her original work is in many private collections, as well as print, worldwide.

Having experimented in many forms of creative medium, she has found great pleasure working with stained glass and is self taught. She favors the copper - foil technique. This is where each piece of cut glass is wrapped in copper foil tape before being soldered together.

The unique beauty of the glass, with its rich, yet transparent colour and texture, responds to the movement of it's surroundings, creating a shimmering, jewel - like quality. Her designs are then decorated with fine silver scroll - work and enhanced with beads to create an original piece of art, giving a contemporary view to the traditional use of stained glass.

Sharon's main inspiration comes from her travels to the Far East, particularly India, for which she has a passion. With vivid colours and ornately styled architecture it would be hard not to be influenced by the vibrancy of a country like India.
